How MatesBot AI teammates work
MatesBot works in three stages. You set up your company in one conversation with the Owner Bot. Your teammates then do real work on their own computers, on request or on a schedule. They check in only when they need information, a decision, approval, or a password.

Stage 1
Setup: one conversation
Sign up with a work email, enter your company details, and press Start free trial. The Owner Bot, named Chief, takes it from there.

You choose its permissions
Read the website, connect and read company email, create departments, organize memory by department, connect other tools.

It researches first
It reads your website into company memory, and with permission the last 30 days of email at summary level.

It asks only what it can't find
Short multiple-choice questions about products, customers, and goals. It never asks again for what you gave it.

Departments appear
Each with its own memory and a named AI lead, such as "Sara, Finance & Tax Lead".
Stage 2
Work: real tasks in your real tools
Give a teammate a job in chat, or put it on a routine. It uses its own computer, its memory, and the apps you connect.
- Opens websites and portals in its own browser.
- Reads PDFs, Office files, and scanned documents, including tables.
- Builds spreadsheets and charts, and sends files with short-lived links.
- Uses connected apps and your own tools through MCP, OpenAPI, or GraphQL.
- Hands work to other teammates, or works with them in a group chat.
- Runs routines daily, weekly, monthly, on an interval, or on a webhook.
Stage 3
Check-ins: only when it matters
Background work stays quiet. You get a ping for a real result or a question. A super bot wakes on its own, checks for stuck work, mail, and meetings, and speaks only when something needs you.
